Juan De Miguel

Born in Santiago, Cuba to Concepcion and Miguel De Miguel, Juan came to Miami in 1962 in political exile as part of the Peter Pan flights sponsored by the Jesuits.  Juan’s wife Graciela, who lives in Roswell, Georgia, says that Juan, who was only 15 at the time, spent 6 months in an Everglades camp without his parents.  He was adopted by foster parents in San Antonio and ended up going to school at Robert E. Lee.  His parents finally arrived in the United States in 1966, and Juan was reunited with them in New Jersey.  It was there that he met his wife, who also was a Cuban exile who came to the US when she was nine.

Juan attended Bloomfield College and had a 38-year career in hospital information systems.  He retired in 2009 so he could enjoy his grandchildren and hobbies.  Graciela says that Juan died from complications due to lung surgery after a bout with lung cancer.

Juan is survived by his wife Graciela of 44 years, two daughters, and three grandsons.  Graciela says that both their daughters are college graduates and that one of her grandsons is an accomplished actor, playing the part of Freckles in movie 42, the story of Jackie Robinson.

Graciela asks that everyone have a wonderful time at the reunion for Juan.  He would want to be there.
