C. Laurence Justice

C. Laurence Justice, 71, returned to his heavenly home on December 17, 2017 after a valiant battle with a long illness, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and children. Laurence's devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his life, especially during his health struggles, giving him peace and affirmation of the Lord's infinite love and grace.

Laurence was born to the late Florence Jeanette and Cassel Mitchell Justice, in San Antonio, Texas, on September 24, 1946. The youngest son of four children, Laurence shined, becoming the quintessential Texan, exuding an incredibly funny sense of humor, eternal optimism and kindness, formidable perseverance, a loving spirit, and strength that mirrors the "Man of Steel".

Laurence graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas, in 1964; and shortly thereafter, attended San Antonio College and the University of Houston. In 1968, he served as manager at the Tower of Americas, helping to bring Hemisfair Park to San Antonio. While at the Tower, Laurence met Yvonne Yeglic, whom he married in 1969. They had two daughters, Elizabeth Victoria and Courtney Camille, the apples of his eye.

In 1994, Laurence married his best friend, Madeleine Margaret Henggeler from Brownsville, Texas. For 24 years, Laurence and Madeleine enjoyed traveling, cooking, family celebrations, and socializing with friends during their Food Club years (where the phrase "World's Greatest" became a part of his friends' vernacular). The great loves of Laurence's life were the Lord, his loving wife Madeleine, and his devoted daughters, Beth and Cammy.

For three decades, Laurence dominated medical sales and marketing while working for DPD Manufacturing, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Ortho-Tex, and CLJ Surgical, where he was repeatedly recognized for his outstanding marketing and sales abilities. Laurence was known for his ability to develop and implement new ideas and his work resulted in the introduction of new and innovative medical products and procedures used throughout the world.

Laurence was a man of many talents. Not only could Laurence fix anything, but he also loved restoring hot rods and fast cars, loved driving and racing his Porsches and Corvettes, and loved cheering on the "Horns." He was an avid golfer (achieving a hole in one in 1980). Laurence was a beloved, thoughtful and trustworthy friend who was well-known for his utmost integrity.

He took great pride in the arduous restoration of the 1967 "Fast and Smooth" Corvette, he rebuilt to showroom condition for his daughter. Towards the later years of his life, Laurence became a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. He discovered that his ancestors were among the "original 300" colonists to settle in Texas with Stephen F. Austin before statehood.

Laurence is survived by his loving wife, Madeleine; his daughters, Elizabeth Philips and Courtney Ochoa (John); his grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth, Alexis Camille, Olivia Grace, John "Quatro", Henry David, and James Laurence; his brother, Bonneau Justice (Deb); his sister, Jeanine Reynolds (Chuck); his sisters-in-law, Kristine Funk, Virginia Harris (John), and Heidi Perdue; and, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his eldest brother, Richard Steven Justice; his parents; Cassell and Jeanette Justice.

Honorary pallbearers are John Wallis Harris, Trevor Perdue, Charlie Britsch, Roy Clark, Jim French, Steve Goebel, Richard Howe, Van Maddox, Rick Payne, Johnny Ramsey, David Swan, Joe Marano and Ron Dieke.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude to VITAS Hospice nurses and staff for their support and compassionate care for Laurence.
