Sheryl Brooks (Kuyrkendal)

Sheryl Ann Kuyrkendall our beautiful, loving and caring wife, mother, and "Mimi" received her wings on November 24, 2013 after losing her fight with cancer. Our lives have been forever changed. Born Sheryl Ann Brooks, February 7, 1947 to Robert C. and Mary Frances (Nancy) Brooks in Tyler, Texas. She moved to San Antonio at the age of 5. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School Class of 1964. Sheryl worked many years in the real estate industry leading to the formation of the family business, Kuyrkendall & Associates in 1978. Sheryl was a volunteer for the Texas Open Golf Tournament for 30 years with best friend Frances Hill. Their devotion to this event was an annual labor of love in which Sheryl rose from score keeper to chairman of scorers. She truly loved the people and friendships she made during her years with the open. Sheryl enjoyed the finer things in life such as season tickets to the SA Spurs, attending the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, and weekends at their beautiful home on Lake LBJ spending time with kids and grandbabies. Additionally, she loved visiting New York City during the Christmas holidays. She and Don traveled extensively which lead to her passion for planning trips and adventures with family and friends. Sheryl truly loved her life, family and friends who will miss her dearly. Sheryl knew no strangers and would help anyone needing assistance. Sheryl is survived by the love of her life and soul mate Donald J. Kuyrkendall, daughter Wendi L. Bivings, son-in-law Brice R. Bivings, son Darren R. Kuyrkendall and wife Amanda P. Kuyrkendall. Three beautiful grandbabies, twins Brooke A. and Braeden R. Bivings, and Layla B. Kuyrkendall. Mother-in-law Ramona E. Kuyrkendall, brother-in-law Dennis E. Kuyrkendall and sister-in-law Jody Kuyrkendall. Sheryl was preceded in death by her beloved father Robert C. Brooks, mother Mary Frances (Nancy) Brooks and father-in-law John J. Kuyrkendall.

Attended Sheryl's memorial on Dec. 2.  She was diagnosed with lung cancer less than six months ago. Left behind a close loving family & and many, many friends. Sheryl, if she could, would ask you smokers to QUIT NOW!!
