Oh, what great fun I had with Joe in Mizabbott’s class! Joe had such a great sense of humor and was a very talented journalist. And a decent human being. Sad to see him go. 😔
Joe was always friendly and kind to me. I transferred in after the start of senior year, and had trouble feeling at home in my new school, but Joe was one of the people who helped me feel welcome. I know he had some troubles later, but my memory of him is always positive. RIP, Joe.
Joe was always a bright star. Sharp as a tack and friendly to all. I knew Joe from even before middle school. The world will not be quite as bright as before.
Joe was my best friend from the day we met in the Lee band hall. He couldn't carry a tune in a paper bag but loved to sing. I told him he had natural harmony. I was best man at his wedding to Glenda Pryse. He was best man at my wedding. We both had daughters within months of eachother. Our second children were also very close.
Joe was a dreamer and believed he could do anything. Sometimes his schemes backfired but more often then not, they worked. He taught school at the college level in Virginia and studied the Bible from front to back.
I think his favorite person on this earth was Bobbie Abbott (Mizabut). He stayed in touch with her, visiting Bobbie and Coach Abbott every time he was in Texas. Now, they are together in heaven. Without a doubt they are together giggling.
Barbara Fletcher (O'Connor)
I remember his energy and enthusiasm! His smile and joyful greeting were positive things in this world. RIP
Paula Goodrich (Jungmann)
