Cathy Ann Woodrum died January 21, 2008, at her home in San Antonio, Texas at age 61 after a 10 month battle with cancer. She was born in San Angelo, Texas on September 18, 1946, to O. D. and Ruth Teague Woodrum. Cathy was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother, her brother Larry D. Woodrum and his wife Kris, her nephew, Larry D. Woodrum II and his fiancé Karen and their son Larry D. Woodrum III and numerous cousins and their families. Cathy traveled the country with her family during her childhood. Her father's military assignments took her to Alaska, Alabama, Florida and Texas. The family settled in San Antonio, Texas in 1962. Cathy graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1964. She graduated with a bachelors' degree from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1968. She started her elementary teaching career in the Northeast ISD at Camelot Elementary School. She later moved to Oak Grove Elementary and then moved to Fox Run Elementary where she retired in January 2002. During her 34 year teaching career she continued her education and received her Masters degree from Southwest Texas University. The Northeast ISD offered to pay for her to get her PHD. Cathy refused the opportunity because it would have taken her out of the classroom and away from her kids. She was a very devoted teacher who won numerous Teacher of the Year Awards. She loved her work and her students loved her. She maintained friendships with former teachers and took a lot of trips with friends and family after her retirement. Cathy was a devoted member of Wayside Chapel in San Antonio for over 20 years. She loved attending bible study with her friends.
